Other useful tips to keep in mind
- Plan your visit to the castles well in advance! Blois is surrounded by several iconic Loire Valley châteaux, including Château de Chambord, Château Royal de Blois, Château de Chenonceau and Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire. Remember to take the 3 Châteaux Pass and allow plenty of time to explore these historic gems.
- Take advantage of guided tours and audio guides to learn more about these sights. It can really enrich your experience there!
- When you visit castles, you also visit tourists! Book your accommodation as soon as possible by looking at the top-rated establishments in Blois.

- Blois is one of the most sought-after towns in the region! It's also a great starting point for visiting the Châteaux of the Loire Valley, but we strongly recommend renting a car if you don't have one, to give you more freedom of movement.
- As the streets of the historic center can be narrow and difficult to navigate by car, we recommend parking in one of the parking lots outside the city center and walking to the main sights. Park and explore Blois on foot!
- Get around as much as you can by bike to take advantage of our pleasant, unspoilt environment. Take comfortable shoes, however, as some streets are cobbled and steep.
- Taste local produce and Loire wines in Blois!
OUR TIPS FOR RENTING A CAR IN Loire
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars - one of the best rated sites.
- Choose a fairly compact car (many villages have narrowed the road).
- Think aboutfull insurance (parking in big cities is really tight).
- There is a lot of demand, book it early.

Château de Chissay is a 40-minute drive from Blois. This authentic Renaissance château has been transformed into a hotel-restaurant. Which is logical, given that it once belonged to King Charles VII's butler in the 15th century. The castle is not open to the public, unless you sleep or eat there, which we strongly recommend!
