Located in a pedestrian street not far from the cathedral and the castle, the restaurant l'Aménité offers a real sunny interlude around a beautiful and good meal. Here, we take care of your well-being, perhaps because the chef, Richard Cornet, is a former psychotherapist.

Why eat at the restaurant l'Aménité
Is Amenity worth it? Our review
In the long list of good restaurants in Nantes, we were attracted by the Aménité and its chef Richard Cornet. The promise of a convivial moment with a creative cuisine, we could not resist...
Let's say it right away, we loved our lunch full of flavors, perfectly mastered cooking, and assembled textures.
In a pedestrian area, in the historic Bouffay district, this Klein blue storefront wakes up these facades that are a little too gray for our taste. The interior decoration is in the same way, the blue dominates without suffocating, the fabrics are flowered, the wood still warms the atmosphere... It's clearly elegant and user-friendly.

The menu is on the slate and ultra-short (2 starters, 2 courses and 2 desserts), the assurance of fresh products.
The offer of wines by the glass is also on the slate, and gives pride of place to Loire wines, but also allows for trips abroad. Definitely, we break the codes in this restaurant, but without any pretention.
And the advantage of an à la carte menu is that it can change every day, depending on the raw materials and the chef's mood, and we like that! And we really like that the Améntié is at the top of our 15 best restaurants where to eat in Nantes.

What you will eat there
At lunch, you can opt for the traditional starter/main course/dessert, while in the evening, the chef proposes a 5-course menu (2 courses and 1 pre-dessert). You will have the choice between fish and meat and on simple request (we have experienced it), your dish will become vegetarian with the smile of the chef.

At l'Aménité, we work with fresh, seasonal products, almost exclusively organic. The same attention is paid to the choice of breeders and fishermen.
On the plate, creativity is limitless, nuts add crunch to the meat, cereals and beets accompany the beautiful fish from the fish market and we even dare to add vegetables to your dessert (carrot-orange-ginger)! But the whole remains harmonious, thanks to the quality of the cooking. The chef does not provoke your palate with aggressive flavors, he does not abuse the spices, it is really a bold composition and very pleasant to the taste buds.

Our lunch menu:
- Appetizer: red tuna acras - carrot/passion - piquillos
- Dish : lamb curry - vegetables - cashew nuts
- Dessert : Shortbread - Hibiscus - Mirabelle

What you will drink
Here too, there is no profusion, nor big names, but a nice and sharp selection of wines by the glass. We dare to leave the big appellations to go and see thewines of the winemaker, which expresses a know-how and an approach and the small appellations of the Loire. One thinks in particular of the Domaine de la Fessardière, converted to organic in the late 1990s taken over in 2014 by 2 young winemakers, Jérôme and Emeline.
Even if a large place is left to the Loire, the chef still surprises us by daring alternative choices, outside our borders, with a Slovenian white and a Hungarian red... So, with only 10 references, you can have a lot of choice...

We opted for a Touraine Blanc from Domaine Meriau, Arpent des Vaudons. This family estate has been run by the same family since the end of the Second World War and is dedicated to developing the terroirs of the Loir and Cher rivers, on 35 hectares. We are next to the charming village of Montrichard. The farm is in the process of converting to organic farming and is already harvesting by hand.
The atmosphere of the restaurant
At L'Aménité we are in a bistro, half-bistro with its slate menus and its wooden counter, half-gastronomic with its beautiful parquet floor and its voluptuous chairs.

No dress code is required, the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The chef personally sees to it during the meal.

Why is the restaurant l'Aménité famous
In addition to its excellent cuisine, the Aménité owes its reputation to its chef, Richard Cornet, who has an atypical background. He was first a trader in London, then a psychotherapist, before deciding to reconvert to cooking. We asked him if he was going to cure our neuroses with his cooking, but he preferred to change the subject. Mystery...
He learned the trade in Nantes from another convert, Dominic Quirke, of the neighboring restaurant Le Pickles, which we also love.

According to the Robert dictionary, "amenity" is acharming friendliness. I can confirm that we were charmed (and that they were all friendly)!
