We were lucky enough to stay at the Hôtel Logis Demeure de la Vignole in Turquant, a small village near Saumur.
This ancient troglodyte site totally charmed us. The rock-covered accommodations and superb indoor pool are impressive!

Why stay at the Hôtel Logis Demeure de la Vignole?
This hotel has an incomparable charm. In fact, we think it's one of the best establishments in Saumur and the surrounding area. Here are its 3 main assets:
- Troglodyte site: some rooms are set in ancient troglodyte cellars dating back to the 12th century. The same applies to the apartment, the fitness room, the superb indoor swimming pool and the function room. It was an extraordinary experience that we'll never forget!
- Facilities: head for the indoor swimming pool carved out of tufa stone to relax in an exceptional setting! For sports enthusiasts, the gym is well-equipped and rather unique. The outdoor terrace overlooking the nearby vineyard was the final touch!
- Atmosphere: we instantly felt at home in this hotel with its friendly, family atmosphere. It's the perfect place to get away from it all, away from the daily grind!

We strongly recommend staying at Logis Demeure de la Vignole in Turquant. It's a unique place that bears witness to the region's history!
During our stay, we enjoyed an extraordinary experience in an enchanting environment. Nestled in the heart of the vineyards of the Loire Valley, this hotel leaves a lasting impression. In a unique troglodytic setting, you can contemplate the rock that forms an integral part of the dwelling. We particularly liked this atypical, fairytale setting!
Its proximity to the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud and Saumur make it an ideal base for exploring the region. More inspiration on must-do activities in the city!
Decoration and atmosphere
Inside and out, the atmosphere is both homely and relaxing. It invites relaxation and conviviality. The tiled terrace surrounded by vegetation offers a picturesque setting. In fine weather, enjoy a glass of wine in front of the nearby vineyard!
The decor is unique, colorful and pleasant. It's punctuated by vintage elements, from lighting fixtures to wooden furniture. The whole is enhanced by the omnipresence of rock, which gives the house its character.
It's the ideal place to recharge your batteries and enjoy a unique experience with family and friends!
HAVE FUN WITH THESE activities
The room
Although we didn't sleep in one of the troglodyte rooms, we still enjoyed our stay.
In our room, the decor was sophisticated and original, with touches of color to liven things up. The stone walls, tiled floors and mansard ceilings gave the place a lot of character. It was a real little cocoon!
The striped armchairs, in shades of blue and green, were very elegant. The floral headboard brightened up the night space. To the right of the bed, a small piece of varnished wood furniture, which resembled a desk or dressing table, completed the décor. The vintage-style light fixtures and 2 bedside tables made our room all the more charming!
On entering the room, we discovered half a bottle of Domaine Filliatreau wine and 2 bottles of still water.
The small windows overlooked the neighboring vineyard, which we actually visited!

The bathroom
The bathroom in our room was tiled, small and attic. It included a bathtub. We noted the presence of a hairdryer, which may prove useful.
2 vintage elements made the room more elegant: the light fixture with its upholstered shades and the oval gilded mirror. Some of the tiles were in different colors, adding a touch of whimsy to the whole.

The breakfast
The hotel's breakfast was a continental buffet. We particularly appreciated the presence of local products such as Crêmet d'Anjou, a creamery speciality from the Angers region.
The choice of products on offer was varied, from sweet options (viennoiseries, jams, butters, spreads, fruit juices) to savory options (charcuterie, eggs, breads).
When the weather's fine, enjoy breakfast on the outdoor terrace overlooking the valley!

The troglodyte pool
The site boasts a splendid indoor swimming pool carved into the rock, offering a relaxing and magical atmosphere.
This refreshing interlude really charmed us!
Equipment and common areas
The hotel has a troglodyte gym with no windows, but plenty of character. After a good session, we recommend a refreshing dip in the pool!
The residence is surrounded by lush vegetation. It boasts a superb outdoor terrace overlooking vineyards. A number of deckchairs are also available in the estate's garden.
The restoration
Enjoy a glass of wine on the hotel terrace, overlooking the vineyards! On the menu, Domaine Filliatreau wines are given particular prominence.
There is no restaurant on site. We recommend you visit Saumur to discover its excellent culinary scene (article coming soon).

Set on an ancient troglodytic site, this charming historic residence was built in tufa stone as early as the 17th century.

How to get there?
We don't recommend staying here if you don't have a car.
From downtown Saumur, the estate is easily accessible by car via the D947 road, also known as the Route de Saumur. Drive straight on for about 10min before turning into Rue de la Vignole. Continue to Impasse Marguerite D'Anjou, where the dwelling is nestled.
For geographical reference, it is located next to Domaine Filliatreau.

Parking
Free parking is available. However, please note that there is limited parking and that it runs alongside the rock. Don't stick too close to the rock to avoid scratching your vehicle!
There are also sockets for recharging electric cars. The parking lot is also accessible to people with reduced mobility.
For people with reduced mobility
The hotel has parking spaces and rooms accessible to disabled guests. However, be aware that the site is very old and partly dug into the tufa stone, so the floor can be cobbled and uneven.
