The majestic staircase, adorned with a wrought-iron banister, added a touch of grandeur and sophistication to the whole. We were totally charmed by the finesse of its sculpted details!
The hoteliers were keen to preserve 6 rooms with their original decor, reflecting Louis XVI, Restoration or Empire styles.

The room
Our room was elegantly and tastefully furnished. She was worthy of princess tales! The sophisticated decor evoked a bygone era.
We particularly liked the checkerboard floor, the moldings on the walls, the upholstered armchairs, the vintage mirror with its gilded frame, and the floor carpet decorated with floral motifs.
In our room we found a glass bottle of water, a coffee maker and coffee pods, so we were able to make the most of our stay.
It also had a small balcony with a direct view of the Loire, which flowed peacefully below.

Breakfast was a continental buffet with a wide choice of products. We appreciated the variety of sweet options: such as pastries, cereals and mueslis, dried or freshly cut fruit, yoghurts, as well as the selection of juices.
Savoury options include a wide variety of breads, cold meats and cheeses. There are also boiled eggs. What's more, we noted the presence of a Richard coffee machine.

Restaurant L'Essentiel is hidden away in the hotel's inner courtyard, and is one of our favorite restaurants in Saumur! History
Listed as a historic monument, Hôtel Anne d'Anjou was built in 1774 by the Levesque-Desvarannes family.
During the Revolution, it was acquired by Charles-Daniel Dupuis (Commandant in the Garde Nationale). He had a sumptuous room fitted out in the Empire style, with decorations designed by the famous architects Percier and Fontaine, who worked in the service of Emperor Napoleon.
In 1835, Louis Jamet (president of the Loire shipowners' association) undertook the construction of a new wrought-iron balcony bearing his initials.
