Best starred and bistronomic restaurants in Angers

1. Restaurant Lait Thym Sel (1 star)

Nestled in the heart of old Angers, this restaurant won us over with its refined, committed cuisine. The couple who run this excellent restaurant honor local seasonal produce and delicate natural wines. Here, elegance meets eco-responsibility, resulting in two well-deserved stars! One is for the cuisine, the other is green, rewarding the alliance between gastronomy and sustainability.

Mayenne chicken, green curry lettuce, cream and crispy potatoes

The menu is available in sparkling, 4, 6 or 9 times of gustatory discoveries! A veritable festival of flavors, the plates impressed us with their creativity. We tasted fish from the Loire, like this eel caught in the river, as well as fresh vegetables harvested just a few kilometers away. The dishes are artistically presented in a palette of colors. Just outside Angers, Restaurant L'Hoirie won us over with its culinary and pastry expertise. Local products are skilfully prepared and sublimated. Like us, you're in for a treat!

Egg
A truly perfect egg!

You can choose between à la carte dishes and the Terre Mer or Harmonie des Saveurs menus. We chose to sample the treasures of the ocean and the French countryside. After a poêlée of oyster mushrooms and a perfect egg, we tried a tasty back of haddock with pommes dauphines. Our lunch ended on a pleasantly sweet note, with a gourmet coffee accompanied by fruit pastry and homemade canelés.

The establishment also thinks of children and offers them a dedicated menu.

5. Restaurant du Domaine du Moulin Cavier

A 15-minute drive from Angers, Domaine du Moulin Cavier is home to one of the finest hotels in the area, as well as a gourmet restaurant. Travel back in time through the majestic gates of this ancient mill. We were charmed by the rustic yet chic atmosphere of this historic venue, as much as by its culinary offerings. We spent a unique moment in the cellars of this still-working windmill, now converted into a restaurant.

The restaurant's cuisine is bold and generous, with an emphasis on local produce. We plunged into the chef's contemporary world. The crisp, flowery vegetables and exquisite snacked scampi surprised our palates! The colorful plates, innovative layout and impeccable service transported us back to French gastronomy.
