Is Hôtel L'Oisellerie worth it? Our review
Yes, without hesitation. This boutique hotel in the historic heart of Angers is well worth a visit. We loved staying in this charming house. With its carved woodwork, grand staircase and interior lantern mural, the soul of this establishment was very much in evidence. Our room was comfortable and well appointed, offering everything needed for a pleasant stay. Breakfast was copious, a real plus as it's a sacred moment in the day for us.

Decoration and atmosphere
Hôtel L'Oisellerie is a picturesque house that will captivate you from the moment you arrive, with its facade featuring many carved wooden details. The authenticity of the building is immediately apparent in its interior design, which is both rustic and warm. With exposed beams, half-timbering and stained glass windows, the charm of the past is preserved, without sacrificing modern comforts.

The room
Our room was comfortable and well-appointed, offering all the space needed for a pleasant stay. It had a large double bed for a restful night's sleep. We loved the exposed wooden beams, which gave the room character and reminded us of the history of the place.

A small office area was located in the corner of the room opposite the bed. We also noticed an original piece of furniture for hanging clothes on hangers, as well as a hanging mirror. The cocooning decor, with its modern lighting fixtures and attractive antique cobblestone floor, created a cosy atmosphere. Period photographs of Angers hanging above the bed added a touch of history.

The bathroom
We discovered a modern bathroom, with a large glass shower that opened onto the room, creating a pleasant feeling of space. Perhaps the most surprising feature was the washbasin, whose long pipe suspended from the ceiling terminated in an industrial-style faucet. The room was equipped with a small mirror, hairdryer, hygiene products and towels, offering everything needed to prepare comfortably. The stained glass windows diffused a soft natural light, creating a warm atmosphere. Please note that the toilet is not separate from the bathroom.

The breakfast
Breakfast at Hôtel L'Oisellerie is a special part of the day. Weekdays from 7:30am to 10am and weekends from 8am to 10:30am. Homemade and local products are served at the table, demonstrating the attention paid to the quality and authenticity of the dishes on offer. We appreciated the variety on offer: fruit juices, pastries, bread, jams and fruit made up this comforting meal. The setting adds to the pleasure of the moment, as you'll enjoy a room of rustic charm featuring old plans of the building.

A little history
Hôtel L'Oisellerie is an unusual 16th-century accommodation. This commercial building was erected on Rue de la Poulaillerie at the request of a wealthy butcher. The house has undergone numerous renovations and restorations over the centuries. In 1921, the street facade was classified as a Historic Monument, and later the monumental wooden staircase, roof and courtyard facades were also listed. We recommend that you take the time to observe its exterior façade, with its superbly preserved carved wooden details. It was only in 2018 that L'Hôtel Oisellerie became what it is today: a charming guest house in downtown Angers.
