We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How many days to visit the Ch\u00e2teaux de la Loire: quick answers<\/h2>\n\n<p>If you rent a car:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minimum to get an <strong>overview<\/strong> of the most famous castles: 2 days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Number of days to see <strong>all the most famous castles and sites<\/strong>: 5 days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ideal number of days to <strong>really enjoy it<\/strong>, in our opinion: 5 to 7 days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you also want to explore vineyards, historic towns and take your time: 7 to 10 days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you just want to see 2 or 3 emblematic castles on a short visit: 1 to 2 days<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>If you want to take public transport, you're much more limited about where you can go and when...<\/p>\n\n<p>There is no universal answer to this question. It depends on a number of criteria. Many towns and villages are well worth your time. We particularly enjoyed wandering around the historic centers between two visits to castles. Blois is also a good base, especially for the castles to the east (Chambord, Cheverny, Chaumont-sur-Loire). We recommend grouping visits by geographical area to limit travel distances.<\/p>\n\n<p>Please note: if you're coming from Paris, allow around 2h30 by car or 1h15 by TGV to Tours. Loire Valley experience. The gardens are in bloom, temperatures are pleasant (15\u00b0C to 25\u00b0C) and visitor numbers are still reasonable, especially in April-May. The Festival des Jardins de Chaumont usually opens in April.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>July-August<\/strong>: peak tourist season. Temperatures can exceed 35\u00b0C in some years. The best-known castles (Chambord, Chenonceau) are very busy: long queues are possible, especially around 11am. The region has enough to keep you busy for a whole week, with its castles, historic towns, vineyards, local markets and bike and boat trips.
