You will cross there the dukes of Brittany, the famous Anne of Brittany, wife of 2 successive kings of France, but also Louis XIV. Ch\u00e2teau d'Oudon (40min east)<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Vallee-loire\/Liste-chateaux-Loire\/i-CkB2ffm\/4\/1143ed4d\/L\/Chateau%20Oudon-L.jpg\" alt=\"Castle of Oudon\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>This castle is one of the few remaining between <strong>Angers<\/strong> and <strong>Nantes<\/strong>. Built at the end of the <sup>XIVth<\/sup>, beginning of the <sup>XVth<\/sup> century, it dominates the Loire, which allowed it to <strong>control the traffic <\/strong>on the royal river. With the castle of Ancenis, they ensured the <strong>defense of the \"border\" <\/strong>between the duchies <strong>of Anjou<\/strong> and <strong>Brittany<\/strong>. Ch\u00e2teau de Clisson (40min east)<\/h2>\n\n<p>Unfortunately, we haven't had the chance to go there yet.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you like medieval architecture, the Ch\u00e2teau de Clisson is a great option. This former fortified castle was partly destroyed during the French Revolution and partly restored. It protected the border with the Duchy of Brittany.<br\/>It was built on the edge of a granite promontory.<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nearest city: Nantes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Style: Medieval<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interesting for: architecture<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Closed in January and every Tuesday.
