Our review<\/h2>\n\n<p>As we said, this hotel is for us <strong>the most mythical<\/strong> of the city.  <\/p>\n\n<p>It was first of all the<strong>private mansion of Jean-Joseph Graslin<\/strong>, an economist and high official of Nantes in the 18th century. A wise businessman, he embarked on a large-scale real estate operation and had an entire neighborhood built around his home, which has now become the <strong>Graslin district<\/strong>. The high point of this work was the construction of the<strong> Graslin Theater <\/strong>in a neoclassical style.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Vallee-loire\/Hotels\/Nantes-hotel-de-France-Oceania\/i-dDVqhtm\/0\/8a79bf0b\/L\/nantes-hotel-oceania-france-10-L.jpg\" alt=\"The Lost and Found room of the Blu Radisson Nantes\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Graslin Theater inaugurated in 1788  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p>The date of the conversion of the mansion into a hotel is not known, but we do know that <strong>famous people<\/strong> stayed there, from the writer <strong>Stendhal<\/strong> to the pioneer of the surrealist movement <strong>Jacques<\/strong> <strong>Vach\u00e9<\/strong>, who died there in 1919 from an opium overdose. place so full of history, the challenge is to reconcile <strong>modern comfort<\/strong> and preservation of the<strong> spirit of the place<\/strong>. This is the (successful) challenge that Laurence Gouardon, from the Igglo firm, and Rozen Dumond, from the Oc\u00e9ania group, took on when renovating the place in 2014 (18 months of work after all!).  <\/p>\n\n<p>In the entrance and lobby, while the<strong>grandiose architecture<\/strong> with its perfect symmetries has been preserved, brightness has been added with a <strong>skylight <\/strong>and touches of bright colors that harmoniously complement the antique tapestries.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Vallee-loire\/Hotels\/Nantes-hotel-de-France-Oceania\/i-Lbnq2Zz\/0\/f624063f\/L\/nantes-hotel-France-oceania-L.jpg\" alt=\"The lobby and in the extension the entrance of the hotel\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The lobby and in the extension the entrance of the hotel<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p>In the bedrooms, the interior designers also had to play with the constraints of the place, but were able to bring in just the right amount of <strong>modernity<\/strong> and <strong>comfort<\/strong>.
