Our review<\/h2>\n\n<p>Of the various chateaux-hotels in which we have had the chance to stay in the Loire Valley, this is definitely one of those that offers the closest experience to what we imagine the<strong>atmosphere of the Renaissance<\/strong> to be.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Vallee-loire\/Hotel-Chateau-Chissay\/i-nsr3h5D\/0\/b4cd095e\/L\/chateau-hotel-chissay-9-L.jpg\" alt=\"View on the Chissay castle while entering the park through the gate\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">View on entering the park through the gate<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p>No false notes, the rooms are an invitation to <strong>silence<\/strong> and <strong>introspection<\/strong>, without television or wifi. We feel the <strong>weight of the centuries<\/strong> around us and dive with delight into a restful sleep.<\/p>\n\n<p>The hotel experience was complemented by a <strong>catering<\/strong> service completely in keeping with the place. The gothic decor is grandiose but not grandiloquent, just like the menu which leans towards regional flavors, without showing off.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img The colors are deep, the wooden furniture carved, the lights dimmed ... The cardinal red of our room highlighted the woodwork of the room. The canopy bed transports you to another century. The high round crenellated tower, an unusual shape for the Middle Ages, is the last remaining feature of this period. It is now used as a dungeon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <sup>15th<\/sup> century, <strong>Pierre B\u00e9rard<\/strong>, ma\u00eetre d'h\u00f4tel to King Charles VII, lord of Chissay and Bl\u00e9r\u00e9, and Treasurer of France, set about improving the ch\u00e2teau's construction. It is the golden age of the castle which receives on several occasions the visits of the kings of France, Charles VII and Louis XI.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>During the <sup>16th<\/sup> and <sup>17th<\/sup> centuries, successive owners transformed the ancient fortress into a <strong>Renaissance ch\u00e2teau<\/strong>, including the construction of the magnificent gallery with its five large sculpted arches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\"
